Games Too Easy
Clickable Culture

If you remember the good ol’days you’ll remember games like this weeks VC release Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts killing players with no mercy forcing you to buck up and get through it and break a number of controllers in the process. Those days have passed. Now, in the day in age of making games ‘more accessible’ to players, are games too easy?
Clickable Culture asks this very question.
“Obviously I think that games have been teaching people the wrong things lately–and, frankly, it’s the same kind of thing being drilled into kids lately in the schools in my area (I’m trying to speak for my own experience here). Children are being taught that “everybody wins,” and seem to be sheltered from competitive activities. In the real world, hardly anybody wins, let alone you or your kids. I see over-rewarding, over-patronizing games in the same light as non-competitive “we are all special” school-system doctrine.”
“If games can teach us anything, they can teach us how to correct past mistakes by learning from failure, and to rise up from mediocrity when the odds are utterly against us.”
Anybody else miss the good ol’days?
