I never understood the Pokemon addiction until I picked it up for the DS. Anyway, DS Fanboy has up a little story about a rare Pokemon cartridge that was used at Toys R Us to give out Mews.

Zelda DS - Where are you?

Comments + DS Fanboy + Zelda

DS Fanboy is wanting to know how goes the Zelda playing.

Comment Sample From DS Fanboy

“I’m not far into it, finished the Fire temple and the subsequent Ocean king Run-from-the-phantoms temple thingy, but so far I’m lovin it. It tends to feel more casual than otherwise, but it certainly has plenty of Zelda-esque moments. The dungeons are short, if the Fire dungeon is any example, and the bosses too easy, But still sweet, and impart that small feeling of accomplishment most Zelda fans are familiar with.

I love and hate the sailing aspect. I’m one of the few who adored the free-roaming, huge, expansive sailing bits, and am disappointed it’s so cut-down, yet feel it still has that yummy freedom feeling still attached. :D

Multiplayer grows on you, at first it feels slightly unsubstantial, then after acouple bouts you realize it’s just sorta like chess, it’s simple yet addictive, and coming back to it after a couple hours away isn’t so hard.

It’s a quintessential DS game IMO. Zelda fan or otherwise this game is the best single player game out for the DS, and giving it the cold-shoulder just because it’s a casual zelda is morose. If you can come into this game expecting no more than it offers you will love it, it easily can stand on it’s own merits.

Thumbs up peoples!”

“I’ve never really been a big Zelda fan….don’t hate….but I picked this up, and I’m having a blast with it. So Far I’ve defeated two dungeons, Fire and Wind. This game is awesome…although the wussy noisy Link makes when he attacks could be improved on :-)”

“My favorite thing about this installment is the level of detail they went into on the little things, like when Link opens a chest and it’s empty, and the usual “you got something!” chime sounds almost like someone pulled the needle off the record. That, plus some other very comical moments in the dialog (and Link’s physical reactions to the dialog) really put this one at the top of my list.

Oh yeah, and you can shoot the annoying seagulls with the boat’s cannon!

The only thing that frustrates me is the rolling attack. I find it difficult to do and end up trying over and over again. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone wanna YouTube themselves properly executing the rolling attack? :D”

“I am enjoying PH so much right now, I am taking it slowly (mostly because I have so many actual things to do) but I know that it is up there with my favorites. I really love the old school top down vibe and the puzzles, etc. Great game, full of expression.”

The Zelda Franchise and You

DS Fanboy + Zelda
10.02.2007 at 12:03 pm

DS Fanboy wants to know “If, like us, you’re still neck deep in the Zelda franchise, what keeps you coming back?”

Comments taken From DS Fanboy

“Nostalgia. I’ve been a Zelda fan since 1987 (I was in second grade), and I’ve a sucker for the franchise. I completed TTWP on Sunday night, and I got chills from the Overland Theme motif that plays during the credits.

But nostalgia’s not the only factor. I have a limited amount of time that I can devote to games, so I look for sure bets. The Zelda franchise consistently provides a quality gaming experience.”

“Quality. I know when I put in a Zelda game, I’m going to get the best gaming experience possible. The developers are at the top of their “game” with the Zelda franchise. It’s akin to watching Tiger Woods play golf or Lance Armstrong race.”

“Zelda has been one of those consistant franchises. while some entries disapoint, they disapoint on Zelda-levels, and are still better than most games!

I will always be a sucker for a Zelda game. Hopefully, Nintendo isn’t reading this…I have come to expect certain playability, dificulty, and just plain fun out of any entry in the franchise, and it has yet to disappoint. That’s why I keep coming back, and will for years to come.”

The Popularity of the DS - Is it Earned?

Nintendo DS + DS Fanboy
04.30.2007 at 12:05 pm

The DS is crazy huge and DS Fanboy is asking it’s users “Do you think the DS has really earned its incredible success, or is it some sort of fluke?”

Hop over to the site and give them your 2 cents.

“Omg, my morning and after commutes would be hell without my DS. I got the opera browser for it and use it all the time. These days I’m playing pokemon, and my 2year old plays with pic-chat. I’ve always been a fan of gameboy and the DS just took it to the next level. As a mom on the go this is the only way I get my gaming fix.”

“DS is great what it is made for - simple touchscreen based games like cards and puzzles. Such games are also very portable - and were helping more than once to survive long trips. On PSP most games are really hard core games - they require lots of attention and lots of concentration, not something you can pull for 8 hours while e.g. in train or on plain.”

“I don’t think success like this *can* be a fluke. The DS is winning because of the quality experience, targeted games, engineering - it’s just a homerun from start to finish.”

Some DS Love This Morning

Nintendo DS + Not all Fan Boys are Bad + DS Fanboy
03.02.2007 at 8:01 am

DS Fanboy would like to know what you love about the Nintendo DS.

“So what is it about the Nintendo DS that does it for you? Are you a die-hard Nintendo fan, praising the big N above all others? Or is it just the DS itself, with those sleek dual screens and array of designs? The games? Something else entirely, perhaps, or maybe a combination of many reasons?”

What a nice way to start the day.
