This might shock and confuse you but there are other things going on besides the Halo 3 Beta cluster. For example,
Game revenues drop by $1M for Ziff Davis” and “PS3 launch hits Sony profits“. Ok, I didn’t say a lot else was going on.

Sony fanboys gather the wagons because the home attack has begun. Earlier Nintendo released their response to the new Sony service stating, “This is an example of Sony’s “Mii-too” approach. Today we find Microsoft’s Chris Satcheel, general manager of Microsoft’s Game Developer Group, saying Home was “not a very game-centric approach.”

Some Home Information

Interview + Three Speech + Sony + Home
03.11.2007 at 12:33 pm

We mentioned earlier we wanted more Home information and Three Speech delivers.

What’s the function of the lobby and what is the maximum number of users that can be in a lobby?

“The lobby is the central meeting place where you can meet new friends or arrange to meet old friends, before transferring to a private meeting place. The current maximum of concurrent users in a lobby is 64.”

Can you enter a game like MotorStorm quickly through Home without having to travel to the specific MotorStorm lobby?

“Currently, users can find each other in Home, and then arrange to go off and play MotorStorm at the same time. Eventually, users will be able to meet in Home and seamlessly launch into a game of MotorStorm. Similarly, users will be able to exit to Home directly from the game.”

Check the site for full interview.

While everyone rushes to love, hate or sit the fence we’re going to refrain from any conversation at the moment until more information is known. We strive to be fair and without hands on anything that can be said is based on a few videos and a small amount of information.

Are Video Game Reviews Bias?

PS3 + GameSpot + Three Speech + Fanboys + Sony + Opinion
03.05.2007 at 3:30 pm

ThreeSpeech has put up a great article concerning the state of the video game review. In it we found something that hits close to our heart.

“There’s another reason why game reviews may have lost some of the regard and influence they once held - slant. Many people comment on how they feel certain journalists/publishers have a particular lean towards one platform over another. I often see concern and speculation on forums as to which game site is on the payroll of which company. Is there any truth in it? Who knows, but it has to be said that game sites rarely do themselves any favours when they cease being impartial - or worse, consistently denigrate a particular platform to the extent that it becomes obvious.”

That’s why we created this site, to discuss and follow news about that very thing (as well as have some community fun). How partial can big gaming sites be while they collect their paychecks through advertising paid for by the games they’re reviewing? A game doesn’t sell well and advertising dollars will dry up. On a daily basis I read forum posts about sites giving certain games and companies a more favorable review, preview and push. It got so bad lately that GameSpot had to start banning users that discussed their alleged Sony/PS3 hatred.

“Okay, everyone that comes here has at least seen one of these whiny threads saying that GS hates the PS3…Well, from now on everyone that makes one of these threads will be suspended for a minimum of 5 days. If you guys don’t like GS, don’t post here. It’s not hard and you’re not being forced.”

“To all of you that think this violates you first amendment rights…This is a privately owned organization with it’s own set of rules, the Terms of Use. You don’t have freedom of speech unless it falls within that frame of reference. None of this does since it is trolling the staff.”

So are big gaming sites becoming more and more swayed by the dollars then they are the actual quality of the games they review?

Kotaku’s Blacklisting Relived via Comments

Kotaku + Fanboys + Sony + Comments
03.02.2007 at 6:59 am

Kotaku has posted a page of comments concerning their amazing Thursday.

“Companies can do what they want with journos - invite them or not, feed them information or not, give them hardware or not. What they cannot do is expect any journo worth their salt to yield to their demands. I think the very attempt of trying to influence a story is unethical, and I think Sony stepped over the line on this.”

Sony and Kotaku Back Together

Kotaku + Sony
03.01.2007 at 5:39 pm

Our countries long ordeal is finally over as Sony and Kotaku make nice.

“It’s unfortunate that we, not just Kotaku and Sony, but all of us had to go through this, but it’s good to see the outcome: We were doing our job and Sony was doing theirs and now we can both continue to do so.”

Sony Takes it’s Blackballs and Goes Home

The excellent site Kotaku has had a bit of a falling out with Sony PR. Seems Sony doesn’t like it when they try to strong arm someone and it doesn’t work.
