“Halo 3 ontop, that didnt take long did it.”

“The King has returned. Go Halo 3!”

“It was envitable :) I had almost all my FL on this week and every single person was playing Halo 3 :) Wonder if it can hold on as long as Halo 2 did? I doubt it personally, there are so many other good games coming out…”

Standing Up for the Little Guy

Xbox360 + GameSpot + Message Boards + Xbox Live
07.07.2007 at 12:01 pm

A 14 year old going by the handle ‘mwc0422′ has started a thread titled ‘To Everyone with Problems about 14 yr Olds on XBL’.

“Let me start off by saying one thing; I am 14. Now, let me get to my reason why I posted this. I know half of the 12-14 year olds on XBL are extremely annyoing, but I know that I am probally one of the most mature 14 year-olds out there. To make a long story short, please don’t judge every single 12-14 year old by saying that every one of us is inmature and shouldn’t be allowed to use a mic and etc. I know I probally didn’t post this where it is supposed to be so my bad. Look forward to feedback about this.”

Gamespot Forums

“I’m fourteen as well and agree, but the matter of fact is that there are always going to be jerks on live who are more immature than anybody because they are just plain jerks (I used a word beside jerks but it was censored). There’s no getting around it. There are ALWAYS going to be people who will read stuff like this and automatically disregard it just because the oppinion came from someone who is younger than they are.”

“parents need to do their job, that’s all. If they think their kid is mature enough to handle it, then let them do so.”

“there are immature people at any age…”

“Stop trying to prove yourself and just play. People only have problems with jerks and immaturity, regardless of age. It just so happens that most of those people are younger.”

“I think the ‘older then 14 yr olds’ in this topic have proven that immaturity isn’t an age thing. You seriosuly can’t enjoy a game becuase someone on it has a high pitched voice? Seek help. The M rating isn’t so you can avoid kids… I’ve seen racism before, and sexist people, but I don’t even think thier is a name for people who bigot peoples age. It’s ok, i’m sure none of YOU were ever young and wanted to play a videogame…”

“I don’t care. If parents are going to sue the hell out of companies for having M rated content and tramatizing kids or having them do acts of violence then kids shouldn’t be playing M rated games in the first place. Their not even legally aloud to purchase M rated games. And as we’ve heard many times weather it be news on the front of the new paper or kids freaking cursing over a mic, we all know that it’s best to keep kids away from M rated games. It really doesn’t matter if there is a select few who can propperly handle the content.”

“younger kids on xbl should be fine as long as they are calm and respectful. ive played with little kids that scream, shout, insult other players for no reason those are the bad ones. the kids that arnt even in 6th grade and are playing gears of war. ive also played with some kids that are calm and say smart things those are the good ones the “mature ones”.”

“Some of you younger guys will get what the older guys are talking about when you get into your twenties. Until then you won’t understand, because I thought I was mature for my age when I was 14, but now being 22 I wish I could go back in time and kick my own ass, and I’m sure that when I’m 30 I will think the same about myself today.”

How much longer can Xbox Live charge consumers? - The Comments

Joystiq + Screen Play + Xbox Live
03.18.2007 at 11:23 am

We’re always interested in what the people are thinking and comments are a great place to find that. Unlike the message boards, where mostly negative posts are found, comments to a central story can often times be a pretty balanced collection.

Here are some comments found on Screen Play and Joystiq concerning the topic of ‘How much longer can Xbox Live charge consumers?’

“Sonys PS3 online thing is free, Nintendos one is free (although hardly comparable), and theres lots of free services on PC like Steam and XFire… I dont know how MS can justify theirs not being free…” - dude

“Can I ask that only people that have played LIVE comment… I’m paying for it, I pay the same price for LIVE as what I do for WOW, and WOW is just one game… Live is just not a server that hooks people up together, there are endless Demos, Movies, game hint videos, and value adds like previously mentioned FREE exclusive episodes of South Park for download.

I used to pay $10 a month for a gaming mag with a handfull of demos, i Pay less than that now and have access to EVERY demo 24/7 and classic arcade games and the works.. if you have a 360, just use the free month subscription to the gold service and you wont look back…but for people bagging it saying oh Nintendo and Sony have free services…go try LIVE and compare it to these two, seriously..Microsoft could make LIVE a total piece of crap and let people use it for free too you know!” - MarkA

“Critics will say other systems are proposing multiplayer for free, but there’s just nowhere near the level of integration and ease of use. Just the universal friends list is a major boon, and this seamless interconnectivity is going to benefit the PC or crossplay space as well.” - DC

“I’m unlikely the renew my Gold subscription when it expires. I simply don’t seem to get the value for it. They need to do more than offer online play for the Gold subscriber. More exclusive content would probably be a good way to start. I think the point has been made many times, by many different people that Live Silver should have free peer-to-peer play and Live Gold should have a minimal subscription for play on dedicated servers.” - Awesome Wells

“Um, you say Sony is beginning to get its act together because they’ve made an ANNOUNCEMENT that they are hopefully, one day, going to have some 2nd rate Second Life rip-off on their console? Great deduction there… Because, you know, Sony always keeps their promises about everything. I can’t believe the number of people out there clamoring for that crap.. Its as if Sony is so far down in a hole of shame, that they could rip a fart and people are willing to accept that as good news.” - killr0y

“paying for xbox live on a pc is a entirely diffrent beast than on a xbox 360. it’s value on a console outweighs it’s value on a pc. i think that’s the reason for letting whoever has a gold account on a xbox 360 also use the same account on a pc. that’s great news for them, but $50 a year for pc only is insane when it’s all basically free already…..” - el moco

Everybody in the Pool

Xbox Live
03.06.2007 at 4:28 pm

The goal for Xbox LIVE to hit 6 million big was set at E3 of last year and was targeting June 2007. If you haven’t already seen it Microsoft announced this morning that Xbox LIVE has hit that number 4 months ahead of schedule. Included with the announcement is a number of interesting facts including:

“The overall software attach rate for Xbox 360 is 4.6 titles per console in the United States with a record-breaking accessory attach rate of 2.9 units per console.”

“Following the launch of the Xbox LIVE online gaming network in November 2002, gamers have spent over 2.3 billion hours on the network playing games online with their friends around the world. This is equal to 95 million days of gaming or over 260,000 years. With our top title, Halo 2, which is being played on both the Xbox and Xbox 360, gamers have spent over 710 million hours playing online with over a half a billion games played.”

“To date, Xbox 360 owners have unlocked nearly 300 million Achievements. All of those unlocked Achievements have created a total combined Gamerscore of nearly 7.5 billion.”

Check out the release for more information.

What Does Your Gamertag Say About You

Xbox360 + Games Radar + Xbox Live
03.04.2007 at 11:59 am

So what does it say about you? Unlike your birth name, which was given to you buy your parents, your Gamertag was chosen by you to represent you. On Xbox Live it’s the first thing people see, it’s your online first impression and it’s how people remember you.

Games Radar tackled this question and after some astute observation identified six encompassing categories - Aggression, Titillation, Transformation, Approval, Attention, and Exclusion.

So did you choose your Gamertag for a reason or did you quickly put some letters and numbers together so you could get to Halo faster?
